Project Managers are solely responsible for customer satisfaction, commercial success and staff development on the projects they lead. We are looking for an individual that can manage a rolling portfolio of projects for several customer accounts and consistently deliver success in all three areas.
The individual must be credible in leading delivery of project services to both our customers and our engineers. Our customers are most often manufacturing managers and their senior controls engineers working in process manufacturing, research or related facilities.
Project work involves some or all of design, build, test, deliver/install, start up and provides post project support for the hardware and software that comprise all versions of the Emerson Delta V, AMS, Syncade, Meridian, and synTQ products, and third party information storage and management products for Distributed Control Systems.
Project pre-execution responsibilities include working with Account Managers and estimating Engineers to ensure proposals include well defined deliverables with associated assumptions and a supporting delivery work plan with detailed tasks, budgets, resources and schedules that build up to each deliverable.
Delivery responsibilities include a project specific mix of customer management, team management, high level technical direction, commercial management and schedule/resourcing management. The Project Manager must effectively plan, direct, coordinate, communicate and report internally to his team and externally to the customer and PSS management. The PM must work as a partner with the technical lead or leads. The PM uses project controls to help manage scope and stay on plan for schedule, budget and cash flow commensurate with terms.
Maintaining and reporting status to both Account Management and Senior Management on all projects assigned.
The position requires knowledge or learning of Emerson Distributed Control System software and hardware products.
The position requires reporting of each assigned project’s deliverable progress, scope change detail, schedule and resource information, commercial performance forecast, invoicing status and tech resource goal accomplishment.
The position requires an ability to simultaneously manage a range of project sizes with varied commercial values for a diverse portfolio of customers involving the full range of Emerson Distributed Control System product hardware and software
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
BS in Engineering
5-10 years' experience as an engineer in an individual contributor role OR in a technical leadership role on projects.
5 -10 years' Program/Project Management experience delivering engineering services
Automation engineering experience in one or more of the following positions- project technical lead, discipline lead, process area lead.
